Formed.
Start of 2003 as a punk project, consisting of Sean Summers (guitar, vocals) and Shaun Boland (drums). Summers & Boland met via a drummer wanted ad placed by Summers for his main band. Dave Ang (bass) joined both LE's and the main band, soon after Demo I was completed. Boland and Dave are friends from high school.
The simple plan.
Write a bunch of mainly fast punk songs, record a demo, use the demo to play around town.

The demo.
The resulting 7 track LE's debut demo was recorded live on 4 track over 3 weeks (with 3 over dubs) during
recording of the main band material. The tracks were mixed straight from 4 track to Mini Disc by Sean. Enhanced using a couple of sound filters (over the mix) and committed to CD care of James Kliemt.
Equipment wise:
***___Sean Summers: '52 reissue Fender Tele, 0.88 plectrums, Boss Tuner, Big Muff, Tube Screamer, Small Stone, AC15 Vox Amp and SM58 mic.
***___Shaun Boland: 6 piece Pearl Export drum kit and 5B Zildjian sticks.
***___Recording Equipment: Yamaha 4 track, SM58 mic, 2 Pavey mics (one ok, the other crap due to an underwater miking experiment), Shaun's mic and Carlo Lane's mic (an 80's rusting relic).
Preparation:
As soon as Shaun had an understanding of each songs' structure we commenced recording live takes. This was done to get a raw live sound ie mistakes, improvisation etc to keep the recording loose.
During the recording there was much feeding of the feed back monster which seemed very important at the time. On final mix down of the demo it was more
important to make the transitions between each song quick. To do this, song changes were done fast and abrupt at times. In keeping with our simple plan ie fast.

Heyheyhey (2:21) & Moan (2:26)
These were the first songs Shaun learnt, rapidly. Heyheyhey has a over dubbed guitar solo.

Take three or four with minor chord screw up on outro (concentrating too hard).
Paranoia (2:17)
This is a heavier song than the rest of the demo, made even heavier by Shaun's drumming, nice. Our third take was used on the demo. Although our second take had an absolutely brilliant middle eight, it had one too many flaws. This song has a minimal guitar over
dub, panned from right to left and vice-verse over the verses and outro.
SWV1 (2:02)
This instrumental is really part of Little Ears Saves the Day but made into a separate song (so there would be more tracks on the demo).
The second take was used on the demo. The music after the vocals are done, was completely made up on this take. The words for the song were completed after the recording was made, with the original vocals recorded kept in the mix.
